Hey @Verbaloid, Thanks for samples man, they are really nice. I’m getting a whole Tom Waits vibe from them! The menu loop one has a really nice balance of playful weirdness and lunacy.. i love it.
@Demonocrat, The death is totally one of the weakest parts of the alpha. Although we haven’t fully decided on what will happen I’v always been keen on the Alien Isolation (AI) sequence but that good old VR is def making us think in some new directions. Personally I want to try a full screen freezing effect where the colour balance shifts to blues and frost kinda starts to appear around the edges of the screen the closer the enemies get to you. Not only do I think things being very very cold creepy but also it gives us a reason to freeze the player in place while we fire of a ‘death from behind’ animation alla AI and don’t have to worry so much about players moving and breaking all the canned animations.
Better checkpoint placement for sure – what do you think of leaving a static mannequin in the places you died? This could cause issues down the line.. say if you died a lot.. but rather than a blood splatter you know..
