Yes it’s weird not being able to look where you’re going (if detected) and all sorts of other things, like taking cover and hiding, also don’t make any sense. It’s a side effect of the mechanic that we’re still experimenting with. There will be different enemy types which behave differently in future builds so these issues won’t necessarily always be a problem while playing. This could also be helped with some clever level design or visual aids for the player.
